I am a Sex Addict
No, not me. This is the title of a film I recently saw on The Movie Channel.
I recently got an HD DVR box from my cable provider Astound Broadband. The box costs about $13 in addition to your regular cable costs. All told my cable bill (internet + cable + HD) is about $80/month. The best part of having the HD DVR package is that it comes with 4 HD movie channels: TMC, Cinemax, Starz, and proprietary channel called HDNet.
Anyone who has had TMC or Cinemax — a.k.a. “skinemax” — knows that after about 10PM the clothes come off and you can expect to see a lousy D-rate movie featuring horrible actors, lots of fake boobs, and plenty of nudity. R+ rated stuff. Nothing crazy or sick happens in these movies.
With the expectation of naked women I was flipping through the channels at around midnight last night to see the title “I am a Sex Addict” on The Movie Channel. Nice! However, I was disappointed to find that I stumbled onto a non-porn film. It is actually an exceptionally entertaining autobiographical film about a man who becomes addicted to sex. Clever and well directed, the acting sucked but was still better than whatever I would have been watching (I.E. “Massage Parlor 2: Happy Ending”). The protagonist/narrator/director Caveh crafts a well told tale of his path from free love enthusiast to “John” to sex addicts anonymous member. It’s a touching story and provides a few more reasons why you shouldn’t go to the massage parlors in Chinatown.
